We source our diamonds exclusively from long-standing, renowned business partners in the world’s diamond trading capitals. They are obliged to purchase diamonds only from legitimate sources and to comply with defined social standards. The precious stones fascinate with their unique radiance. Find out here how their value is measured.
No two diamonds are the same, even if they appear identical to the naked eye. The quality of a diamond is assessed on the basis of objective criteria – and so two gemstones of the same size can have very different prices.
Cut
The cut is the only quality feature that is determined by humans. This work requires absolute precision. Because only a cut with precise angles and proportions brings out the fire and brilliance of a diamond to the full. The right cut brings out the optimal proportions and facets of the stone and determines the reflection possibilities of the light. The best-known cut is the brilliant cut, which produces a particularly high brilliance and radiance of the precious stone.
Colour
The more colorless a diamond is, the rarer – and therefore more valuable – it is. The color scale starts at “D” for “very fine white” and goes up to “Z”, tinted diamonds.
However, there are also stones with a particularly intense natural color; these are known as fancy diamonds and fetch high prices.
Clarity
The clarity of a diamond is determined by the type of inclusions it has at 10x magnification. The fewer inclusions a diamond has, the more valuable it is, as the reflections of light are not dimmed. Inclusions are natural features from the time of creation and are also referred to as the “fingerprint” of a diamond.
Carat
The term carat goes back to the seeds of the carob tree (Greek keration). As the seeds always have approximately the same weight, they were used from antiquity until the 19th century to determine the weight of a diamond. It was not until 1907 that the metric carat of 0.2 grams was introduced.
Confidence
Trust and transparency are essential for us. That is why we only process diamonds from renowned partners in the world’s diamond trading capitals and from DTC sightholders who source their goods directly from the De Beers Group. This enables us to guarantee the flawless origin of our stones, which come from conflict-free sources in accordance with the Kimberley Process. DTC has also formulated a code of conduct to ensure ethical principles in the diamond industry, to which all business partners are committed.
We showcase the diamonds on our gold and platinum jewelry for you. The concept of sustainability also plays a major role for us here: recycled gold is used in the production of our yellow gold, white gold and rose gold alloys.
